Speakers
Isaac Mohapi, Specialist: Explosives at the Department of Employment and Labour, provided a detailed overview of the 2025 Explosives Regulations, highlighting key updates and compliance requirements that will affect how companies manage risk and maintain operational standards. He later returned to discuss the roles and responsibilities of the Explosives Manager, offering practical insights into the competencies and systems needed to fulfil this critical function effectively.
Adding a law enforcement perspective, Colonel Vela Yengwa, Section Commander for Explosives Auditing and Disposal at the South African Police Service (SAPS), addressed legal liabilities and enforcement trends, outlining the SAPS’s approach to auditing, incident response, and the enforcement of explosives-related offences.
