The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy has published a Determination Under Section 34(1) of the Electricity Regulation Act. The Determination states that electricity should be procured from new generation capacity through tendering procedures that are fair, equitable, transparent and cost-effective, and shall constitute Independent Power Producers procurement programmes. The procurement programmes shall target connection to the Grid. The electricity may be sold to the entity designated as the buyer (Eskom Holdings SOC Limited).
