Department of Higher Education and Training Skills Development Act
Extension of the National Skills Development Strategy III for a period of two years
Summary of Intent
The third National Skills Development Strategy follows the integration of higher and further education and skills development into a single Department of Higher Education and Training. Partnerships between employers, public education institutions, private training providers and Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) will be promoted so that the integration of education and training becomes a reality experienced by all South Africans. Priority will be given to strengthening the relationship between public colleges and universities and the SETAs, as well as with employers.

The National Atmospheric Emission Inventory System (NAEIS) has now been fully migrated to the South African Atmospheric Emissions Licencing and Inventory Portal (SAAELIP). As a result, NAEIS is now accessed from SAAELIP.(NAEIS)

Unemployment Insurance Amendment Bill 2015
Summary of Intent
The Bill seeks to:
- adjust contributor's entitlement to benefits and extend the unemployment insurance benefits so as to benefit the employees who are under contract of employment contemplated in section 18(2) of the Skills Development Act and employees as defined in section 1 of the Public Service Act, 1994, and
- make certain adjustments in respect of Income Replacement Rate and also amend the constitution of the Unemployment Insurance Board so as to provide for the functions of the regional appeals committee.
