Montreal Protocol

Summary of Intent
South Africa ratified the Kigali amendment to the Montreal Protocol on 1 August 2019 and is required to reduce consumption of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) from the baseline calculated for 2024. Reductions of 10%, 30%, 50% and 80% by 2029, 2035, 2040 and 2045 respectively, must be met. Public hearing on Eskom application
