Stockholm and Rotterdam Conventions

Summary of Intent
The following meetings will be held in September 2024:

  • twentieth meeting of the chemical review committee of the Rotterdam Convention on the prior informed consent procedure for certain hazardous chemicals and pesticides in international trade from 17 to 20 September 2024. A review of final regulatory actions will be discussed for 19 chemicals; and
  • twentieth meeting of the persistent organic pollutants review committee of the Stockholm Convention will be held from 23 to 27 September 2024. Included on the agenda is consideration of the recommendations made for:
    • chlorinated paraffins with carbon chain lengths in the range C14 – 17 and chlorination levels at or exceeding 45% chlorine by weight; and
    • long chain perfluorocarboxylic acids, their salts and related compounds.
