Summary of Intent
The Department of Environmental Affairs has published a report on the social and economic impacts of Phase 1 Carbon Budgets in South Africa. The report outlines the methodology for identifying and analysing the social and economic impact of carbon budgets, considering both qualitative and quantitative impacts. A number of companies were interviewed and they indicated that Phase 1 Carbon Budgets would not cause them to undertake any investment in mitigation actions beyond what was already planned.
