The Prior Informed Consent Regulations (PIC) (to domesticate the Rotterdam Convention to which South Africa is a party) were promulgated for implementation on 12 May 2021. CAIA drove the development of the Regulations in the Work Programme of the Department’s Multistakeholder Committee on Chemicals Management, of which CAIA is a member.
