In Weekly Alert 18/2018 CAIA alerted members to the presentation by the Department of Transport (DoT) of the Draft Roads Policy for South Africa and the Draft Revised White Paper on National Transport Policy at the National Economic Development and Labour Council (NEDLAC). NEDLAC constituencies requested an extension in order to engage on the two documents, which was granted by the DoT. Notice of Intention to Amend the 2012 National Framework for Air Quality Management in the Republic of South Africa

Summary of Intent
The Department of Environmental Affairs has published a Notice of intention to amend the 2012 National Framework for Air Quality Management in the Republic of South Africa. The purpose of the National Framework is to achieve the objectives of the Air Quality Act (AQA), and as such the National Framework provides a medium- to long-term plan of the practical implementation of the AQA. The Framework provides mechanisms, systems and procedures to promote holistic and integrated air quality management through pollution prevention and minimisation at source.
