Incorporation of Safety Standards into Lift, Escalator and Passenger Conveyor Regulations, 2010

The Department of Labour has published a Notice amending the Lift, Escalator and Passenger Conveyor Regulations, 2010, by removing SANS 50081-1 (Safety rules for the construction and installation of lifts Part 1: Electric lifts) and SANS 50081-2 (Safety rules for the construction and installation of lifts Part 2: Hydraulic lifts). The above standards have been replaced with SANS 50081-20 (Safety rules for the construction and installation of lifts - Lifts for the transport of persons and goods - Part 20: Passenger and goods passenger lifts) and SANS 50081-50 (Safety rules for the construction and installation of lifts – Examinations and tests - Part 50: Design rules, calculations, examinations and tests
