An application has been submitted to the Department for the derogation of a registered agricultural remedy that contains spirodiclofen with an active load of 240 g/L. Spirodiclofen has been identified as a substance of concern due to its classification as a reproductive toxin Category 1B according to the Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals. Amendments to the Energy Users Block Exemption Regulations, 2023 were published on 4 April 2025 published for 15 day public comment. The regulations allow energy users to collaborate on agreements and practices related to securing backup or alternative energy supply, reducing costs, and optimising energy use, exempting them from certain provisions of the Competition Act to address electricity supply constraints. A report on the progress and performance of renewable energy power plants in 2024 has been published by NERSA. In 2024, the REI4P and non-REI4P projects generated about 17,609 GWh and 4,41GWh of energy, respectively. Workshop on enhancing the development of demonstration projects

The Accelerate-to-Demonstrate (A2D) Facility is a flagship global facility implemented by UNIDO, which aims to accelerate the commercialisation of innovative climate solutions in developing countries by supporting catalytic and scalable demonstration projects. A workshop will be held in Johannesburg on 22 April to discuss development and implementation of demonstration projects, provide capacity building, and provide opportunities for stakeholder engagement and networking for project development.
