CAIA alerted members to the latest round of proposed amendments to the Act, in weekly Advocacy Alerts 14 and 23/2020. Following recent meetings of the Portfolio Committee of the National Assembly, CAIA specifically notes that the Department is developing Regulation 116A that is aimed at ensuring that all drivers of trucks registered in South Africa comply with all the same requirements that South African professional drivers do, including criminal background and health checks.
