SUMMARY:TRAINING COURSE - Basic Globally Harmonised System (GHS) of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals
DESCRIPTION:The GHS is an internationally agreed system for classifying and communicating chemical hazards through labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDSs). South Africa adopted GHS under the Regulations for Hazardous Chemical Agents (HCA)\, with an 18-month transition period. The latest draft regulations reinforce requirements for classification\, SDS development\, and labelling. This training introduces the fundamentals of GHS\, focusing on hazard classification\, SDS preparation\, and labelling requirements. \nTime: 08:30 – 16:00 SAST \nObjectives \nParticipants will learn to: \n\nUnderstand the purpose\, scope\, and application of GHS.\nClassify hazardous substances and mixtures according to GHS criteria.\nApply hazard communication elements (labels and SDSs).\nInterpret South Africa’s GHS regulatory framework.\n\nTarget Audience \n\nSHEQ managers and risk practitioners\nTechnical and logistics personnel\nSupervisors handling hazardous chemicals\nCompliance officers and regulatory specialists\nEmergency responders\n\nDaily Programme \n\nSession 1: 08:30 – 10:30\nBreak: 10:30 – 11:15\nSession 2: 11:15 – 12:30\nLunch:  2:30 – 13:30\nSession 3: 13:30 – 16:00\n\nLanguage: English \nSkill Level: Basic \nCost: CAIA Members – R7 000.00 excl.
