CAIA’s Role in Responsible Care® Implementation

CAIA has implemented an appropriate and flexible way of representing its members effectively, when engaging with relevant stakeholders on matters such as national legislation and policies. As it is important that Responsible Care® is applied in all countries in a uniform manner, CAIA implements Responsible Care® within the overall direction set by ICCA.

CAIA’s role in managing and promoting Responsible Care® is anchored in the ICCA’s Eight Fundamental Features, which form the core of all Responsible Care® activities.

Guiding Principles

CAIA developed and published the Responsible Care® Declaration.

Name, Logo

CAIA adopted and registered the Responsible Care® name and logo.User guidelines were developed and published.

Codes

CAIA developed and published 11 Codes of Management Practice (CMPs) for use by full members and SQAS-AFRICA for associate members.

Indicators

CAIA developed and published KPIs as well as an online KPI data submission platform.

Communications

CAIA has established a network of platforms to engage with members, the public and Government.

Sharing

CAIA developed forums and committees where members and relevant stakeholders can share views and exchange knowledge and experience.

Encouragement

The annual Responsible Care® Awards recognise members for outstanding performance in Responsible Care® and related initiatives.

Verification

CAIA developed systems to verify implementation of the measurable (or practical) elements of Responsible Care®.
